Friday 16th NovemberAll parts mentioned further down this page are now to hand, so the build will continue this weekend, with the usual web-site updates resuming. Monday 12th NovemberWork on the build has been suspended at the moment for the following reasons:
Sadly, the water temp probe supplied to me has the wrong thread size for the tapped hole in the engine. Even more sadly, this means I have to rip-out the loom and break it down again to fit the new wire. I did consider cable-tying it alongside the existing loom, but cannot bring myself to downgrade build quality to that extent! I may even have to remove the pod to do this - but suspect I'll be able to do it with the pod in place. The thing that bugs me about this is that apparently the engine comes with one of two thread sizes for the thermocouple ports - but no-one warned me this was the case, or that the probe might not fit. (Note this is not Flylight's fault) I cannot get the replacement probe until Thursday or Friday of this week and, even when I do, I'll not bother postings pictures of work that's already been done once, as that'd just be boring! I may spend some time t-cutting the pod this week, but again this won't generate anything worth photographing, as general pod shininess doesn't reproduce well on photographs taken under artificial light! Feel free to visit the site in the next few days anyway, but please don't email me asking why I'm not posting anything. Total work remaining:
