Wednesday 31st OctoberNot a picture in sight today, because I spent the time wrestling with the necessary wiring in the loom. All the information I needed was in the manual, but because I'd skipped ahead a bit, I forgot it was there! Gary at Flylight was very patient with me on the phone and it's all clear to me now. I'll be bypassing part of the loom as I'm fitting a Brauniger AlphaMFD EFIS instead of analogue instruments, and I have two EGT thermocouples and one for water temp, plus a fuel flow meter to cable in. If I used the existing loom, there wouldn't be enough wires, plus I'd have rolls of cable left under the engine as you mustn't shorten thermocouple cabling. Thus, I'm going to buy some plastic cable conduit and run my own, seperate loom. The build is generally slowing down now, because I'm reaching the stage where attention to detail is important - well, it's important all along, but you know what I mean. I want the finished job to evoke comments of 'Nice attention to detail', not 'shame it isn't tidier'! Hours today: 3 - all brain work, with a bit of soldering thrown in for good measure. I've business meetings all day tomorrow, so the next update will not be until Friday evening. MilestoneAfter weeks of indecision, I registered the plane today......G-TRYK |
