Friday 2nd NovemberThe job started today with a little road trip to Maplins, as the kit was short two spade connectors for one of the plugs that have to be assembled. I also had to buy some cable-conduit for the EFIS probes sensors I mentioned on day 10. Sadly, Maplins don't sell the correct spade connectors, which should lock in to the plastic plug case. Instead, I bought some without the locking mechanism. This means they pop out the back of the plug when you mate the two halves, but they can be pushed onto the mating tang with a small screwdriver. They are a very tight fit, so will not come off again on their own, and will be covered in heat-shrunk plastic anyway. Registered a new domain yesterday: www.kiss400.com. Currently, it redirects to this web-site, but I'm considering turning it into an Owners' Club. Watch this space! Hours effort today: 2
Bummer of the dayThe Fuel flow meter has 8mm inlet and outlet, and must be fitted after the fuel filter. The fuel lines in that part of the installation are all 6mm i.d., so I'm going to have to locate a step-up and step-down adapter. Chatted with Flylight, who advised it might be best to have them turned on a lathe - a local engineering company should be able to do that for me. I'm going to post to the BMAA e-group later to see if anyone knows of a supplier who may have them ex-stock. Flylight are also of the opinion I should contact Guy Gratton at the BMAA, as this fitting will probably comprise a minor mod. This won't hold me up though, as it's all easy enough to get to. |
