Wednesday 24th October

I'm still stymied waiting for the Loctite glue pack, so didn't get much done today. In fact, I've gone as far as I can without it, unless I start on the wing - and I don't have the space to be building a wing and a trike at the same time!

Hours effort: 2

DSCF0982.JPG (64139 bytes) Try as I might, I just couldn't get the tyres on the rims, so I went to the local tyre place and got them to do it for me. The bastards charged me a tenner, and it only took 10 minutes. Gits!
DSCF0983.JPG (56022 bytes) Front forks now complete, with wheel and brake.
DSCF0984.JPG (82542 bytes) God, what a shite picture? Any web-writer with half a brain might be tempted to simply not include a picture like this. What? Me? No, I'd rather have an excuse for a little rant, to disguise an otherwise boring day.

Oh yeah - sorry - forgot to say: It's the radiator which I just sprayed black.

DSCF0985.JPG (42809 bytes) I've reached stall point now, so jumped ahead into the engine build section. This is the regulator/rectifier assembly, featuring some rather nifty soldering, if I say so myself. Of Course, you can't see it because it's under plastic cable-wrap and heat shrink. S'true though - the soldering is superb.

Bummer of the day

1. Driving my son's car to the tyre place (as mine's missing an engine at the moment), and having one mechanic rush into the office shouting "come quick, come quick". I ran outside and discovered another mechanic aiming a fire extinguisher at the bonnet and shouting "Open it mate, or the whole car will go up". Clouds of smoke, you see, were issuing from under the bonnet. Was I concerned? Not a jot. I knew that my son had blown a rocker cover seal the previous week, and there was a constant drip of oil onto the exhaust manifold. It was embarrassing though.
