Flylight carried some in stock, and were able to supply me with the required stuff for 20 quid all in, although Neoprene glue was not included, so I still have to drive 20 miles to a dive shop to buy some! Here's a reproduction of the information leaflet which Flylight included in the pack: Threadlock, etc.If particular types are not available at your local DIY/Car Shop (Editor's Note: I can promise you they won't be!) use the Yellow Pages, under the headings: "Bolt and nut stockists" or "Bearing stockists", who will normally stock the entire Loctite range. Cleaning/degreasing solvent may be obtained from DIY/Car Shops, Loctite suppliers, or if completely stuck, HiFi shops. Check instructions for warnings about use on painted finishes. Loctite 641 may be used as an Air Creation approved replacement for Loctite 638. The 7649 Activator is not essential, it just speeds curing of ill-fitting parts (Editor's note: This implies the cure speed on tight fitting parts will be just fine, although the phrase 'just fine' is equivalent to 'how long is a piece of string'! Given that the supplied pack included no activator, I'll leave parts which required it for 24 hours to be sure) The type 406 cyanoacrylate is superglue. Don't use an ancient bottle of it from the kitchen drawer though! Neoprene glue is available in sailing, windsurfing and diving shops. It is used to glue a single leather patch. Other adhesives, such as Evostick, may be used but the bond is unlikely to be as strong. (Editor's Note: Tried Evostick, and the patch fell off an hour later) |
