I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Flylight, but particularly to Paul and Gary, who made time for me on what was one of their busiest days. Those guys knew how desperate I was to get the Tryk flying in time for Spamfield, and they came through for me.

Read about the day, or just look at the pretty pictures.

Watch Video - May I recommend the roll-rate video in particular - it's incredible!

Nearly the Bummer of the day

On leaving Sywell airfield, I stopped to say bye to Paul after pulling through the exit barrier. Paul suddenly shouted 'Go forward more!!!' - and I did, just in time to avoid the barrier slamming into the prop!

Bummer of the day

Discovering that although I take great care when building an aircraft, I do not take sufficient care when packing the wing. Paul discovered a hole in the fabric on the leading edge, which can only have been caused by my carelessness. Also, when dismantling the wing, I left in not one, but two battens. Fortunately, they are not damaged as Paul discovered them when folding the wing.

Clearly, I need to pay more attention to detail during rig/derig!

Finally, I need to remember that my aeroplane has needs! I walked off and left her this afternoon without tying her down, and if it hadn't been for Gary hanging on while someone came to find me, it could have been nasty!

Oh well - the best times to learn lessons like these is when experts are about to put you right - thanks again guys!
