Well, it's been a real mission trying to get the build signed off for testing, what with the 3 month delay at the start of the year, then the paperwork going missing on it's way to the BMAA. Finally, I heard back from the BMAA and they rejected the weight report for being too light!

To cut a long and tedious story short, this was caused by Inspector's scales that became less accurate the heavier the weight upon them, but mainly due to the initial weighing being performed on one wheel at a time, with the other not blocked up to the same height. In hindsight, it's obvious that having 1 wheel higher then the others shifts the centre of gravity away from that wheel!

Never mind - rang the BMAA this morning to hear that my draft MAAN has been prepared, so I should be able to start the test flying *very* soon!

The first cut of the 'Recovery' database is now live. This took simply ages, as I severely under-estimated my free-time! Also, I had to learn ASP to write it.......which was nice!

Still no sign of a final inspection, but my baby now has a rear seat steering kit and a cover, as you can see on this page.

High pressure moving in, so hopefully a final inspection will happen soon!

Gobbiness rankings reposted.

I didn't get a single, sodding Valentine card! <sob>

Final Inspection postponed until the bloody weather improves! You can't weigh a flex wing with the wind under the wing! Some day my Baby will fly <sob>.

An airbrush artist is visiting me tomorrow to give me a quote for a custom paint job on the pod!

Gobbiness ranking calculation rules changed, which lead to a reshuffle of the leaderboard. This is because my Microlight folder in Outlook, where I kept all the posting history, got to an incredible 58 Megabytes!

John Whelan, the BMAA Inspector responsible for my build, popped around for an informal pre-final-inspection inspection. He made nice comments about my build quality and did a once-over-lightly of the trike. We have arranged to get together at the local airstrip next week, provided we get a dry day with light wind, when we will assemble the wing and attach it to the trike, so he can give it a thorough going over. As soon as he has OK'd the trike, I'll be able to start the ground runs necessary to run in the engine and check Rev Counter calibration.

Work on Trike Recovery database suspended, as this web-site is going to change hosts soon to a platform directly under my control. This will make the required database work much easier.

Resumed work on my Kiss after a 6 week layoff. Hopefully, she will be inspected this week.

Work on the Trike Recovery database hasn't got as far as I'd hoped. It's not hard, just time consuming, and my time is at a premium at the moment!

Kiss kit number 2, G-CBEB owned by Tony Williams, was test flown by Paul Dewhurst today. Tony reported a climb rate of 1000' per minute, two-up with Paul! Tony also reported that performance and handling is great, and that the plane flares and lands perfectly, contrary to what was reported in the Article in Microlight Flyer.

The Chicken flies!

Kiss kit number 1, G-CHKN owned by Ian Tomkins and displayed at Telford, was test flown by Paul Dewhurts with no problems reported.

Proud owner Ian said: "I can assure you guys, you will not be disappointed, the Kiss handles beautifully, super smooth in roll and climbs (excuse the French) like a bastard, 1500 feet per minute, dam near vertical. The engine is very quite and, well what can I say I am very chuffed."
